VOODOUN MOI, WHY ARE WE CALLED THIS?
Genevieve is all French Canadian and wanted to call the band Voodoo Moi. So then I remembered a project I did in high school about the African diaspora in the New World – the belief systems that developed among slaves taken from West Africa from 1500 to 1850. In Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, and Togo, many religious traditions flourished that transformed when the slaves reached America, and two of these were Yoruba and Vodun.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_African_Vodun
